[edit] About

Excerpts from the brochure

"The Gulf Art Fair will take place on 8-10 March 2007 with the support of the Department of Tourism and Commerce of Dubai [1].

Over thirty of the world’s top international galleries will take part in the first major art fair in one of the wealthiest economies in the world. The venues will be the magnificent Jumeriah Madinat Arena and the spectacular Fort Island. The event will add to the cultural profile of a City that aspires to become a major centre for the global art market, and bring world art to the doorsteps of some of the most enthusiastic new art collectors in the world

The Gulf Art Fair seeks to create an event that goes beyond the limits of most art fairs. Proposals are being developed by major international artists for public art installations to take place both in Dubai and in the desert at Bab Al Shams. Martin Creed [2] (Turner Prize [3] winner, 2001), Cai Guo-Qiang and Brian Eno [4] are amongst those developing ideas for special artist’s projects."
