Aida Makoto was born in Niigata, Japan in 1965. Aida currently lives and works in Japan.
Aida completed his master's degree at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1991. He first exhibited his works at "Fortunes" held at the Rontgen Kunst Institute, Tokyo (1993). Since then, his works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
He has held a number of solo exhibitions at the Mizuma Art Gallery, Tokyo, and held a solo exhibition "Doutei," which means "a long way" in English, at the Mitsubishi-Jisho Atrium, Fukuoka (1999). In the same year, he exhibited the "War Picture Returns" series at a group show "Ground Zero Japan" at the Art Tower Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture. Aida works with oil painting, Nihonga (traditional Japanese-style painting), animation and children painting style. He has also written a novel, entitled Youth and the Pervert.
