The Sung Kok Art and Culture Foundation is a public foundation that was inaugurated to commemorate the dedication of Sung Kok Kim [1] toward the Korean community. As its first project, the Sung Kok Art and Culture Foundation established the Sung Kok Art Museum in November 8th, 1995. Its primary purpose is contributing to the globalization of Korean art and sharing the profit earned by Ssangyong Enterprise to the country. Located at the former residence of Sung Kon Kim, the founder of Ssangyoung, the Sung Kok Art Museum endeavors to consolidate the identity of Korean and to publicize Korean art worldwide. Exhibitions at Sung Kok focus on reinterpreting the traditional Korean spirit, the delicate sentiment expressed in Korean art, and the aesthetic values of Korean art with a modern perspective.

The Sung Kok Art Museum aims for the highest standards of all endeavors. It validates the integrity of Korean culture and serves as a place of international communication in the visual world. The museum organizes approximately 15 annual exhibitions featuring the works of contemporary Korean artists as well art from abroad that demonstrates work of international mainstream artists. Our goal is to keep local artists involved with new directions in art across the globe. Sung Kok Art Museum will continue to set milestones for Korean art by promoting promising artists with modern themes and supporting artists who are already recognized in society.
